Maybury Farm Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of animals do you have?
Goats, pigs, miniature donkey, miniature horses, draft
horses, pigs, cow, turkeys, ducks, geese, lambs, sheep,
peacocks, fainting goats, Jacob sheep, chickens, roosters,
and guinea hens.
Who rebuilt Maybury Farm?
Under the direction of the Northville Community
Foundation, the foundation's vast list of donors and
supporters were all contacted and the majority all helped
wherever they could. There were hundreds of individuals who
donated their time to the rebuild as well.
Do you permit feeding of the animals?
We do not, especially the horses, cows, sheep and lambs.
They are all on special diets that keep them healthy -
people food is just not good for them at all. Please help to
keep our animals safe and do not feed them. If you are at
the farm during feeding time our staff is more than happy to
let you help them feed - but that is the only time and we
thank you for understanding.
Can children volunteer their time?
Children can volunteer by suggesting a "Student Volunteer
Day" with their class and through their school. Individuals
who are 18 years or older, may also volunteer by calling
(248) 374-0200 to complete a volunteer form.
May I bring my dog onto Maybury Farm?
Unfortunately, we cannot permit dogs on the farm.
Can I adopt an animal?
Yes, we have annual adoptions. Download the
Adopt an Animal Form or you may call
(248 374-0200.
Do you permit smoking?
Absolutely no smoking on the grounds of Maybury Farm.
Do you have a picnic area?
Yes. We have 12 picnic tables for daily use or you may
reserve the entire area for a special event. For special
events and reservations call (248) 374-0200.
What else is there to do on the farm?
We are excited to add a new children's Farmyard
Playground! Open for the first time in 2011, it is a great
addition for our young guests.
Do you sell food in the Welcome Center?
Yes! We sell popcorn, snacks, soda and water. We also
have expanded our General Store. We now sell jams, jellies,
butters, Maybury Farm honey and maple syrup, along with
small gift items. And don't forget, in the summer we
sell fresh produce from our garden. In the fall, pumpkins,
gourds and corn stalks are for sale.
Beginning in the Spring and running through the summer we
offer "Beautification" opportunities at the Farm. They
include:
- Flowers - Donations of $50 will be used for the
planting of flowers at the entrance of Maybury Farm and
on the patio.
- Paver Stones - If you have visited Maybury Farm you
have noticed the beautiful patio that was built for us
by Global Gardens. The pavers used were used
specifically so people could donate to the farm by
purchasing a paver. Pavers come in two sizes;
small 6'x 8' (donation - $250 and have a 2 line 15
character limit per line) and 12?x12? (donation $350 and
have a 3 line 20 character limit per line). These
pavers make wonderful birthday, anniversary, memorial,
or just-because gifts.
- Picnic Table Donors - As Maybury Farm increases in
its programming we have more and more need for picnic
tables. If you would like to sponsor a picnic table for
a $1,500 donation a plaque will be placed on the table
with your desired inscription (limited to 12 characters
and spaces 3 lines).
- Buy A Board - Maybury Farm is continually in need of
lumber. It is used to replace boards, build pastures,
build lean-to's, repair pens, repair wagons, rebuild
wagons, etc. We would also like to add an addition to
our Welcome Center. Your donation of $250 for
boards will greatly help with all of the above items.
Your family name will also be placed on a plaque that
will hang permanently at Maybury Farm. A great GIFT
idea!
